FIJI: The Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation together with Fiji Bus Operators Association have launched an initiative to promote priority seating for Expectant mothers, senior citizens and people with disabilities.
A total of 55 bus companies will be taking part in this initiative and they will have the first three rows of their buses reserved for the elderly, people with disabilities and pregnant ladies.
They will also have advertisement at the front and back of their buses with the child help line number 1325 written on it.
While launching the initiative Minister for Women Children and Poverty Alleviation Rosy Akbar says it is sad that we have to remind people to show respect or to care.
She says that everyone has been guilty of looking away from people who deserve their seats more than them and by the launch of “Show You Care” initiative they will be reminding the people about the right thing to do.
