With its construction stalled by the heavy rains this summer, the town’s new accessible-friendly playground is almost ready for fun.

The first phase of the installation of the town’s Canada 150-themed playground in Maywood Park on Bredin Parkway is complete.

However, residents are advised to remain off the site until the second phase — the installation of rubber flooring — is completed from Sept. 18 to 22, depending on weather.

“The project’s completion was hindered by excessive rain this summer — but the end is now in sight,” the town posted on its Facebook page on Wednesday.

“Please refrain from using the site for a few days.”

The new playground is a Canada 150 project for the town. The town’s net budget for the project is about $90,000, which included a $47,000 Enabling Accessibility grant from the federal government.
